All Students Need a Backpack: Herndon Insurance's First Annual back to School Backpack Drive

As all of you know, the 2010-2011 school year is rapidly approaching us as Summer is coming to a fast close. Unfortunately, though many students are excited about getting the school year underway, they are ill-equipped, lacking basic supplies such as backpacks that would hold their school books and other utensils.

Knowing this fact has prompted Herndon Insurance to initiate its efforts to support the Houston community's school-aged youth, through our First Annual Back to School Backpack Drive! I am both proud an eager to begin this effort with the help of surrounding businesses and community members who all know the value of investing in our youth.

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 27, 2010, and ending Friday, August 20, 2010, we will be accepting all donations in the form of new or gently used backpacks during regular business hours, on location at 9659 S. Gessner Dr., Houston, TX 77071.

On Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 10 AM to 2 PM, we will be hosting our Back to School event at our location, where the backpacks we have purchased, along with the backpacks we have collected from everyone will be presented to the West Orem YMCA, where they will then make arrangements to donate them throughout our community to students who are in definite need of them.

To all of my readers, please do your part in making our First Annual Back to School Backpack Drive a success!

  1. Obtaining CE courses or Continuing Education is required in many state departments of Insurance for those who need to renew their license. For example in the state of Texas, an Insurance agent or adjuster must take a Texas insurance continuing education for him/her to be updated with current trends and developments in insurance industry.
