Are Your Final Expenses Covered?

Are Your Final Expenses Covered?
By Brandon J. Herndon
State Farm® Agent

Are you worried about how your loved ones will pay the expenses incurred at the time of your death? While death is an inevitable part of life, financial questions associated with final medical bills, funeral expenses and estate settlements should not be.

According to a 2006 General Price List survey of the National Funeral Directors Association, the average cost for final expenses is $7,000. Preparing for those costs today could prevent family members from dealing with a financial burden in addition to coping with the loss of a loved one.

One way you can assure that your final expenses are covered without placing the responsibility on your family is to make certain you have a life insurance policy that will meet your needs. Your life insurance policy can be an important part of your financial planning. Taking the time now to review your coverage and benefits may give you the peace of mind you deserve.

The death of a loved one can be enough of a physical and emotional burden for your family. By planning ahead, you can prevent it from being a financial hardship as well. Visit with your insurance agent and discuss how a life insurance policy can cover your final expenses. It will only take a few moments of your time, but may go a long way toward easing the burdens of those you leave behind.

All Students Need a Backpack: Herndon Insurance's First Annual back to School Backpack Drive

As all of you know, the 2010-2011 school year is rapidly approaching us as Summer is coming to a fast close. Unfortunately, though many students are excited about getting the school year underway, they are ill-equipped, lacking basic supplies such as backpacks that would hold their school books and other utensils.

Knowing this fact has prompted Herndon Insurance to initiate its efforts to support the Houston community's school-aged youth, through our First Annual Back to School Backpack Drive! I am both proud an eager to begin this effort with the help of surrounding businesses and community members who all know the value of investing in our youth.

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 27, 2010, and ending Friday, August 20, 2010, we will be accepting all donations in the form of new or gently used backpacks during regular business hours, on location at 9659 S. Gessner Dr., Houston, TX 77071.

On Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 10 AM to 2 PM, we will be hosting our Back to School event at our location, where the backpacks we have purchased, along with the backpacks we have collected from everyone will be presented to the West Orem YMCA, where they will then make arrangements to donate them throughout our community to students who are in definite need of them.

To all of my readers, please do your part in making our First Annual Back to School Backpack Drive a success!
